You know how difficult it is to find an effective solution to electromagnetic interference, radio frequency interference, electrostatic discharge or cosmetic reflective finishes. We've found the best solution for most applications is thin-film metallization.
Thin-film metallization on plastic enclosures gives you significant advantages:
- Excellent EMI/RFI/ESD shielding performance;
- A very cost-effective alternative to other shielding methods;
- Superior adhesion - durable coating with no flaking after assembly;
- Uniform coverage providing repeatable coating thickness and conductivity;
- Selective coatings achieved by precision masking;
- Coatings can be applied to most plastic, ceramic, glass or metal substrates;
- Thin-film coatings don't interfere with product assembly;
- UL approval available on most plastics;
- Environmentally friendly process (no VOCs).
Here's How the Process Works:

Parts are cleaned in the Aqueous Cleaner.
|

Parts are masked and placed on fixtures. Fixtures are then moved into the Vacuum Chamber.
|

The Chamber is placed under vacuum; the parts fixtures rotate. The metal is vaporized and condenses on the parts.
|

Parts are removed from the Chamber and fixtures. Secondary assembly services are provided as requested. Final inspection and quality audits are completed.

Additional Services
We understand that applying thin-film metallization is just one step
in your entire manufacturing process. Plastic-Metals Technologies can
help you in other ways too:
- Design consulting (included as part of your service);
- Formulating and applying decorative finishes;
- Secondary assembly services - inserting hardware, pad printing, precision-inserting EMI filters and gaskets, sonic welding, heat staking and electrical testing of your product;
- Leveraging our long-standing relationships with world-class molders and die casters to your advantage.
